Amex points now accepted at Amazon
Members of the American Express rewards programme can now use their points to pay for purchases at Amazon.com.
The move covers categories such as Books; Kindle; Movies, Music & Games; Computers & Office; Electronics; Home, Garden, & Pets; Grocery, Health & Beauty; Toys, Kids & Baby; Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry; Sports & Outdoors; Tools & Home Improvement; and Auto & Industrial.
Amex cardholders can already use their points for rewards from over 500 brands in the Membership Rewards programme across categories including Travel, Dining and Entertainment, Retail, and Charities.
Lynne Biggar, senior VP and general manager, membership rewards at American Express, commented: “This is a major step forward in the evolution of the Membership Rewards program, which began as a travel-focused program and has since expanded to include dining, entertainment, retail and many more redemption options. Through the launch of this new benefit, we are now giving cardmembers the added choice and flexibility to directly use rewards points to purchase anything from Kindles and books to electronics and sporting goods.”
To register for rewards on Amazon, cardholders complete a one-time registration to link their Amex Rewards account to an Amazon.com account.
The Membership Rewards Pay with Points feature was launched in 2005, and enables members to use points toward flights, hotel stays, cruises and vacation packages booked on americanexpress.com/travel.
The Membership Rewards program earns members earn one point for virtually every dollar charged on eligible, enrolled American Express Cards. Points have no expiration date, and there is no limit on the number of points a member can earn.
