Amex to ‘educate’ Delta members on rewards
American Express is launching a campaign for its new Delta SkyMiles credit card to educate loyalty members about changes in the service.
The new credit card comes after Delta merged with Northwest Airlines in 2008. Since the merger, Delta has chosen Amex as the exclusive provider of the co-branded credit card for its SkyMiles loyalty programme.
The focus of the integrated campaign is to reinforce the fact that the Delta SkyMiles Card is the official card of Delta’s SkyMiles program within the US. While their existing miles will still be honored, WorldPerks members who wish to continue to combine miles earned from flying with miles earned on co-branded card purchases will need to switch to a Delta SkyMiles Credit Card.
“WorldPerks members and credit card holders are very valuable customers, and we plan to treat them accordingly,” said David Rabkin, VP for Delta co-brands at American Express.
The new campaign will be running in key Delta hubs that were formerly Northwest hubs within the US, including Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Memphis.
The new benefits include the ability for card members to earn double miles on all Delta- and Northwest-operated flights. In addition, members can now redeem any seat any time on all Delta- and Northwest-operated flights with no blackout dates or inventory restrictions. Card members also can redeem award tickets with no redemption fees.
The national campaign will run through the end of 2009 and includes print, television, radio and online advertising.
