Half of Gen Z and Millennials made new year resolutions related to health and wellbeing
Who doesn’t love a trend and this one is gathering momentum extremely fast.
Classified as health and wellness, it is what it says on the tin, and encompasses our desire to stay fit and well, mentally and physically, by buying suitable products and services, from retailers to travel firms, by subscribing to information services and by making lifestyle choices, such as gym membership, sports clothes and work adjustments.
A good example of the impact of the trend is chemist chain Boots Group which has taken the decision to introduce new Wellness Zones in its stores, bringing together trusted products and expert guidance in one place.

It has embarked on wellness training for over 500 Health & Wellness Specialists across 140 stores nationwide and a further 140 wellness lines and 12 new wellness brands have been added to the retailer’s line-up, including Loop, Perfect Ted, and new own brand, Wellthy by Boots
The intention is to help customers navigate the wellness category and follows research commissioned by Boots that reveals a growing demand for wellness, particularly amongst beauty consumers, with 40% seeing wellness as an essential part of their daily beauty routine. A third of Gen Z (34%) also agree to spending more on wellness.
A further 62% admit to being engaged with key wellness areas, such as gut health, hormonal balance, or stress management which are important determinants of overall skin and hair health.
The instore Wellness Zones bring together a selection of trusted brands and products into one place with areas for gut health, nutrition, hydration, sleep, movement and beauty-from-within. They will initially launch in six stores nationwide.
Tasters
A new pick and mix style selection of tasters from trending brands such as Humantra, Zooki and DIRTEA is also included, making it easier for customers to sample different tastes and ingredients, after research revealed over half (58%) of Gen Z and millennials make New Year’s resolutions related to health or wellbeing.
In addition, new wellness training has been rolled out to over 500 Health & Wellness Specialists, who will be available in 140 stores nationwide. They are on hand to offer expert advice on popular wellness topics and can make product and lifestyle recommendations based on customer goals.
Kirsty Thorley-Mitchell, Head of Wellness at Boots, said “We know that the world of wellness can feel a little overwhelming and for many it’s hard to know where to begin. Our unique training provides education on trends, ingredients and routines so we can help to guide customers on the right products and routines for them. Our new Wellness Zones offer customers the opportunity to access expert and personalised advice from their local high-street, aligning with increased demand from customers, particularly those who are cross-category shopping from health and beauty.”
Customers can also access a wide range of advice, guidance and support on the newly launched Boots Wellness Hub on boots.com. It is home to free, easy-to-access wellness information on topics such as gut health, movement, sleep, beauty, calmness, energy, hormones and focus.
