Cardholders get points for Yahoo! searches
One point for each two searches made
Nectar has partnered with Yahoo! to offer its cardholders the chance to collect loyalty points for online searches.
Cardholders of the UK coalition loyalty scheme can download the Yahoo! toolbar from nectar.com and then collect up to 50 Nectar points a month – one point for every two searches made.
The left hand side of the toolbar enables users to do online searches, while the right hand side tracks the number of searches and corresponding Nectar points for the user in any one month and lets them know if they can collect points at the shopping websites that they visit.
A Nectar logo will appear next to any retailers in the search listings that currently offer points as part of Nectar’s ‘collect points online’ offering. In addition, a traffic light system on the right hand side of the toolbar will show whether points can be collected on a purchase; green shows that points are currently being collected, red means that no points are collected and grey indicates Nectar points are unavailable through that particular retailer.
Roger Sniezek, e-commerce director at Nectar commented of the partnership: “It has enabled Nectar to make a user’s online journey truly rewarding by letting them collect Nectar points at the start as they search and at the end at the point of purchase. The Yahoo! toolbar brings all these elements together with the aim of increasing the number of Yahoo! users and allowing Nectar to go the extra mile and reward collectors in new ways.”
The toolbar will be promoted via Nectar’s full range of marketing channels launching with an initial email to the full database in the New Year. Yahoo! will also be supporting the toolbar through a Nectar application on its home page.
