Cosmetic rewards card in China
China Minsheng Bank has launched a JCB credit and rewards card co-branded with cosmetics company Shiseido Liyuan Cosmetics.
The ‘Minsheng Lady Flower – Aupres’ card is targeted at Chinese consumers who are interested in beauty and cosmetics. The new card is available in two types: standard card and gold card. Benefits for cardmembers include automatic membership of the Aupres rewards programme that SLC offers, free make-up lectures and the opportunity to attend free make-up lectures.
The first 60,000 applicants receive a cosmetics package.
Japan-based card issuer JCB currently has alliances with ten partner banks in the country and financial institutions for acquiring operations and a network of approximately 70,000 merchants that accept JCB brand cards.
China’s recent economic growth has driven demand for international brand card issuing in the country, and in 2005 JCB began granting issuing licenses, starting with Bank of China, Bank of Shanghai, China Everbright Bank, China Merchants Bank, and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. There are now over amillion JCB-branded cards in China.
