Everton uses mobile to interact with fans
English Premier League football club Everton is introducing mobile technology to enhance interaction with its fans.
The club has partnered with Mobile Media Production and ikan-media to launch a new range of mobile services including competitions, quizzes, text comments, and ‘man of the match’ voting. Oxygen8 Communications provides the infrastructure supporting the real-time messaging platform Shoutlive.net.
Everton is the first football club to be using the new Shoutlive platform, which allows companies to create and run SMS and Premium SMS services. EvertonMobile helped to develop the new mobile system in conjunction with Oxygen8, Mobile Media Production and ikan-media, which means that the club now has the specific functionality it wanted from a mobile platform.
Mark Rowan, head of media and communications at Everton, said: “Everton Football Club have some of the most loyal supporters in the world. We wanted to be able to utilise the latest mobile technology in order to enhance interaction with our fans and provide them with some innovative, compelling mobile content that makes them feel more closely connected to the club.“
He added that the Shoutlive mobile platform would enables the club to launch SMS promotions and services quickly and easily.
