French retail giant to issue enhanced customer benefits card??
Retail giant Carrefour is launching the PASS payment card, which will offer ‘enhanced benefits’ to its French customers and will feature the PayPass contactless application for low value retail payments. The MasterCard-branded card will be rolled-out in France from February 11 by Carrefour’s financial services’ subsidiary, Société des Paiements PASS.
Gauthier Durand-Delbecque, general manager financial services at Carrefour Group said “We believe the PASS MasterCard card, an innovative card with improved consumer benefits, will help not only to build customer loyalty, but also attract and retain new cardholders to our network”.
The card offers cardholders a choice in how they pay for purchases; either immediately from their bank account or by credit via to the card’s joint debit/credit functionality. The cardholder can choose their individual PIN number for the card, and the PayPass application can be used for purchases up to Eur25.
The loyalty card function builds on existing Carrefour and PASS customer benefits, including the doubling of some discount benefits for cardholders making at least one monthly purchase in a non-Carrefour merchant in the group.
