Godiva starts chocolate scheme
US luxury confectionary maker Godiva Chocolatier is launching its first loyalty programme, the Godiva Chocolate Rewards Club. Mike Giresi, the company’s senior VP of IT, said that Godiva’s new owners, Istanbul’s Yildiz Holding, have offered the appropriate financial resources to launch the programme.
Godiva was previously owned by the Campbell Soup Company.
Giresi said creating a loyalty programme now is imperative to create a stronger relationship with Godiva’s highly-engaged customer base, especially given the current economic conditions and the strong and increasing competition in the luxury chocolate sector.
The Godiva Chocolate Rewards Club will offer consumers perks including free chocolate – which focus groups communicated as one of their strongest desires – free shipping and a monthly e-newsletter featuring special offers and new product announcements.
To mark the official May 29 launch date, Godiva will also offer members the opportunity to win a complimentary chocolate party. Membership is free and members receive a free piece of chocolate each month for visiting one of Godiva’s 270 North American outlets.
The rewards programme is now live in 10 of those stores, and will expand to the rest of the stores on May 29. An online version of the rewards programme will also soon be launched.
