Greek Mellon exceeds 5 million retail cards milestone
Athens-based Mellon Technologies, says it has exceeded the 5 million cards milestone for retail applications, namely loyalty cards and gift cards.
In the last decade the company has developed card-based solutions for different sectors in the Greek market, and has contributed to the implementation and support of major card-based loyalty and gift card campaigns.
Mellon says card-based loyalty programs enable businesses to offer additional benefits to their customers and strengthen their competitive advantage, adopting at the same time a structured marketing process and decreasing the corresponding costs. These characteristics make the card a cost-effective, easy to use and widely recognizable medium for the development and promotion of any business, regardless of sector or size.
“The need to strengthen customers’ loyalty has become more evident in recent years, with the intense recession formulating a more sceptic consumer profile, thus urging businesses to investigate new ways of acquiring and retaining customers.” commented Peggy Guelestathi, responsible for the non-banking card solutions of Mellon Technologies. “To this end, it is extremely positive that businesses are being supported by state initiatives, such as the “Digi-retail” that was brought up for discussion and public deliberation by the corresponding Secretariat (Special Secretariat of Digital Planning) of the Ministry of Finance, Competitiveness and Shipping.”
Using banking cards, Mellon Technologies says it has developed important know-how both in card technologies and in card applications. During the third quarter of 2010 its non-banking card sales exceeded 5 million, and it has sold in total more than 100 million cards in the banking and wider public sector. The clientele of non-banking cards includes Carrefour, Adidas, Carouzos, Parousiasi, Minoan Lines, Attica Department Stores, Intermax, Makro, Rakas, Flocafe, Avin Oil, EasyCruise
Mellon Technologies is the parent company of Mellon Group of Companies with subsidiaries in Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, FYROM, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Egypt, Ukraine and Turkey.
