Initiative fuels card loyalty in Malaysia
Two Malaysian fuel companies and a bank have launched co-branded credit and debit cards to focus on drivers’ needs and support their affiliation to those brands.
The PB-Esso Mobil Visa co-branded Gold credit and debit cards are the culmination of a strategic alliance between Public Bank, Esso Malaysia and ExxonMobil Malaysia
Public Bank said it is constantly seeking to provide Malaysian consumers with greater card benefits and rewards that complement their lifestyle needs. The PB-Esso Mobil Visa Gold Credit Card is designed to appeal to income earners of RM18,000 ($5,788) and above per annum.
The credit and debit cards offer cash rebates of up to 5% and one percent, respectively, for any purchase at Esso or Mobil service stations. Cardholders also get a 0.5 percent cash rebate for other retail purchases made elsewhere. There is no annual fee for the cards.
“We have been working with Public Bank for a long time and look forward to continued growth with this new product,” said Puan Faridah Ali, retail business director of Esso Malaysia. “The cards offer a smart way to pay for fuel at our network of 560 Esso and Mobil stations nationwide. The cash rebates are of great value and help cardholders to save even as they spend.”
Esso Malaysia and ExxonMobil Malaysia are subsidiaries of ExxonMobil in Malaysia.
