What’s a Magnuson?
Well it’s a who, actually. We’re a hotel conversion brand that was founded over a decade ago by Thomas and Melissa Magnuson. We’re a family business that was started as ‘the low-cost alternative to franchising’ and has quickly become the world’s largest independent hotel group as a result. Today, the consumer-facing brand Magnuson Hotels is the fastest growing hotel brand in history- adding more new hotels in the last 10 years than 8 of the top 10 chains combined.
We’ve got a different approach to loyalty, too. We think that our guests want something real in return for choosing us AND that our hoteliers shouldn’t foot the bill for it. That’s why our Magnuson Rewards program is free for our partner hotels -saving them around 30% in traditional franchising costs- and gives our loyal visitors an Amazon.com Gift Card in return for their repeat bookings.

It’s quite simple, really. We offer global brand support at a lower cost than traditional hotel groups. Plus, we have three hotel brands to serve the upper midscale, midscale and economy segments, so owners can quickly reposition their hotel at the top of a desired market.
Our rewards are different. Members get paid, not points. By offering Amazon.com Gift Cards as our retention mechanic, we’re giving our members something real. They could turn their repeat business into a gift for the kids, a gadget for themselves or any of the other hundreds of thousands of items available on the website. We think that’s value and our hoteliers pay nothing to participate.
