Marketers’ digital marketing skills maturing, says the IDM
The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing has reported a definite trend towards a requirement for more advanced digital skills amongst marketers in 2011, confirming that practitioners’ capabilities in the discipline are maturing.
The IDM says it is adding more advanced techniques to several existing courses, and launching two completely new advanced level courses: Advanced Pay Per Click and Advanced Mobile Marketing.
IDM Marketing Director, Lisa Turner comments:“When the IDM first incorporated digital marketing techniques into its programme more than a decade ago, the demand was very much for entry-level skills. While those foundation courses are still relevant to those who are new to marketing, or to a particular strand of it, for today’s marketer it’s clearly more about honing and improving their digital skills and strategies, rather than acquiring them from scratch.”
Advanced Mobile Marketing on 7 December will explain how organisations should optimise the performance of their mobile marketing strategy. Course tutor is Robert Thurner M IDM, former Commercial Director at Incentivated, now a respected mobile marketing consultant. Robert is co-tutor for the IDM’s existing Mobile Marketing: Planning and Implementation course, which is positioned at intermediate level.
