Meta Payment Systems launches eco-friendly prepaid card
US-based Meta Payment Systems has launched an ‘eco-friendly’ prepaid card for bank customers.
“This is a great step forward in changing the way we approach our prepaid business in terms of being more ecologically minded,” commented Mick Conlin, the company’s senior VP – agent products.
“All of our Meta-designed cards will be manufactured on recycled card stock from this point forward. We are looking more broadly at our own ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ practices and are paying more attention to what our materials vendors and suppliers are doing as well.”
The card is made of a 65% recycled PVC core sheet, resulting in 55% total recycled content after lamination and performance equal to cards manufactured on regular PVC. In turn, the PVC components of the card are 100% recyclable. The card is being offered within the Agent Bank retail channel and will be available to the 1000+ banks and credit unions that participate in Meta’s Prepaid Gift, Reloadable, Travel and Youth Card program.
The new recycled card features the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle mobius as a prominent design feature and is now available for financial institutions to order in time for Earth Day, April 22 and National Arbor Day, April 30.
