New names from Nectar in rewards revamp
It was to be expected that the Barclaycard Freedom launch would shake up the UK multi-retailer loyalty sector, and sure enough, Nectar has announced a revamp and some new names to breathe life into its tired scheme.
Nectar in fact says it is using the “simplicity” of its scheme as a selling point, pointing out that its points are also instantly r edeemable, and that it has 16.8 million cardholders.
The first new signing is ASK, the nationwide contemporary Italian restaurant chain.
In a move that is responding to Tesco’s double points offer, Nectar says its scheme will double reward at ASK so for every 500 points spent, Nectar cardholders will get £5 off their bill rather than the usual £2.50.
Nectar says that throughout the year, more high-profile household brands will be announced across the four categories of Home, Food & Drink, Entertainment and Travel. There will also be regular special deals with double value and exclusive offers, so cardholders can get more for their points.
Jan-Pieter Lips, MD of Nectar commented; “We’re constantly striving to make Nectar as simple as possible for our collectors, which is why the tie-up with ASK is a fantastic start to the new-look rewards programme, collectors simply hand in their card when they pay for their bill. Our customers tell us that a big benefit of the Nectar scheme is the access it gives them to high profile brands, so with these new partnerships we’re directly responding to this and aligning the scheme more and more with their lifestyles.”
