PointsPay wallet adds new features
260 million points loaded since launch three months ago
Mobile wallet and payments solution PointsPay has added new features including a revised consumer interface.
The new interface of the wallet app, which coverts loyalty points or miles into more than 160 currencies for spending at merchants, is the ‘Quickloader’ process that enables users to load points onto a PointsPay virtual or plastic card with two clicks.
PointsPay, a subsidiary of Swiss-based LoyLogic which launched its service three months ago, says the update will speed up the process of using its virtual or plastic card offering at the point of sale.
Luca Paioni, head of product development for PointsPay, commented: “What PointsPay offers today is exactly what wallet providers like Google Wallet or PayPal are targeting to offer in the future: a simple and secure payment wallet that allows their user to pay anytime, online and in store at over 32 million points of sale around the world.”
The company says it is continuing its international growth with PointsPay cards now being used at over 1,300 locations in around 70 countries. Over 260 million points have been loaded since the launch.
It added that in-store transactions were “steadily” increasing, making up over 35% of all purchases. Users have made purchases online paying electricity bills, shopping at Amazon or downloading music on iTunes. In store PointsPay users have used points to pay for groceries, dinners at restaurants and new pairs of shoes.
PointsPay says the uptake of its mobile wallet confirms the findings of a recent study published by Comscore, which found that 52% of consumers want to be able to use a digital wallet both online, through a browser or mobile app, and at a physical store.
PointsPay version 2.0 is available for download from the iTunes Store.
