Qantas passes 10 million landmark
Promotion to mark achievement
The Qantas Frequent Flyers programme has reached 10 million members.
The Australian carrier is marking the achievement with a promotion to give away 10 million points.
Qantas says that the 10 million members effectively give it reach into almost half the households in Australia, and adds that points redemption rates have increased by 14% in the year to March.
The airline welcomed 52-year-old Victorian Grant Welsh as the 10-millionth member.
Qantas Loyalty CEO Lesley Grant said: “Ten million members is a huge turning point, not just for Qantas Frequent Flyer but also the members who have been such a critical part of the growth and evolution of the program.”
Welsh said he would use the combination of earning points for miles flown as well as shopping at Woolworths and using a Qantas points credit card to try to earn enough points to go on motorcycle trip around Hawaii or on holiday to Bali.
Members can enter the 10 million points give-away online by telling Qantas how one million points would change their life.
The winner will be judged by a panel of the programme’s most loyal members.
Grant said: “One million Qantas points is a significant windfall and we look forward to seeing what people would do with them to change their life. It’s a good opportunity for us to give back to Australians who have helped make the program what it is today and who have been loyal to both the program and Qantas.”
