Rewarding car buys with points
Its been a long time since loyalty rewards have been used to incentivise car purchase. Now the idea is back, with a major loyalty company and a significant car manufacturer involved.
Payback is working with Ford Motor Company to offer cardholders in Germany the opportunity to earn points for vehicles. The benefits are high.
From May 3 to August 31 2010, customers who purchase a Ford Ka can collect up to 100,000 points, 125,000 on a Ford Fiesta and up to 175,000 on the Ford Focus Anyone purchasing the new Ford S-MAX or Ford Galaxy can collect up to 275,000 points. The customer decides how he uses his points. The choices range from shopping vouchers for Payback partners and rewards from the Payback shop, to making a donation to charity or receiving a cash payout.
The value of Payback points vary, but it is generally 1% of spend.
This means theoretically, a Ford Focus could earn a customer 1750 euros.
