Voucherhub.com launches in the UK
A website for finding and sharing online and printable vouchers has been launched in the UK, called VoucherHub.com.
It comes from the creators of the popular American voucher website, RetailMeNot.com, which claims VoucherHub.com is the first website in the UK to introduce the voucher-sharing model without requiring user registration.
VoucherHub.com will bring new revenue to the affiliate channel and growth opportunities for UK retailers in the run up to the Christmas shopping season.
The UK market for voucher websites is ripe for innovation, says the company, which quotes research from Hitwise <http://weblogs.hitwise.com/robin-goad/2009/08/voucher_searches_up_475_in_a_y.html> , which says UK internet searches for discount vouchers increased by 47.5 percent over the last 12 months. However, the rise in consumer demand for vouchers has not been matched by growth in traffic to voucher websites, which decreased by five percent over the same period. Consumers increasing wariness of opportunistic voucher websites was cited as the reason for this decline in a recent report from Hitwise Research Director Robin Goad.
VoucherHub.com is committed to putting the consumer first. As RetailMeNot.com has proven, a great user experience is the most important factor in building a loyal and active online community, sustaining web traffic and driving revenue for affiliate partners, said Alex Rabarts, managing director, VoucherHub.com. The voucher website industry in the UK is stagnant and many of the existing players engage in scammy tactics that mislead consumers. This is not a long-term strategy and is already proving unsuccessful in maintaining the user base.
VoucherHub.com leverages the voucher-sharing model pioneered by RetailMeNot.com. Since it launched in 2006, RetailMeNot.com has experienced an average of 20 percent month over month growth and now sees upwards of 10 million visitors each month. Retailers generated more than 10.9 million in sales through RetailMeNot.com in July 2009 alone.
In 2008, Commission Junction, the leading global provider of affiliate marketing solutions, awarded RetailMeNot.com with the Publisher of the Year award for the largest year-over-year increase in revenue and the greatest percentage of growth.
In the US market, RetailMeNot.coms voucher-sharing model has been undeniably successful in creating value for consumers resulting in high volumes of traffic and impressive sales for our US retailers, said Daniel Powel, head of account management, UK, Commission Junction. We are delighted that the team has developed a bespoke offering for the UK market and expect to see the same successes here.
VoucherHub.com, which launches with more than 1,000 online and printable UK vouchers, is compliant with the Internet Advertising Bureaus (IAB) Affiliate Marketing Council Code of Best Practice for Voucher Code websites.
